“Alivia Nguyen is a Vietnamese American sports media creative from Huntsville, Alabama, who’s passionate about representation and storytelling in sports. Growing up in a small Southern town with few role models who looked like her, she once felt pressure to hide her cultural identity. Now, she proudly uses her platform to champion diversity in the sports industry. With experience in collegiate and professional athletics, Alivia combines digital creativity with a mission to make sports media more inclusive for the next generation.”
Hi, I’m Alivia Nguyen—a creative and data-driven social media specialist from Huntsville, Alabama, with a passion for sports, fan engagement, and storytelling that brings people together.
My journey started in high school when I picked up a camera to film a documentary about my band program. That project, which premiered at our annual banquet, was the first time I saw the power of media to preserve memories and connect people. It sparked a love for content creation and marketing that only grew stronger when I arrived at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
In college, I launched my career by managing the UAB Men’s Soccer social media accounts, where I focused on growing digital presence and improving student fan engagement. That opportunity opened the door to a larger role within UAB Athletics, where I served as a lead Social Media Coordinator. I managed content strategy and daily publishing across 10+ official UAB team platforms, helping generate 50,000+ video views and driving a 5,000+ follower increase during high-impact moments like NCAA tournament runs. I consistently used tools and Meta Insights to track KPIs, refine platform-specific strategies, and report results that informed future campaigns.
Beyond campus, I expanded into the professional sports world through BaAM Productions, initially joining as a college intern before earning a full-time role as an Operations Coordinator for Major League Baseball Special Projects. I played a direct role in organizing and activating events such as MLB at Rickwood Field and the All-Star Village, managing real-time content production, tracking campaign performance, and ensuring cross-functional alignment across sponsorships, marketing, and community outreach teams. This experience deepened my understanding of large-scale event execution and further sharpened my skills in fan-facing media and storytelling on a national stage.
Today, I’m continuing that journey as a Video Production Assistant for the Huntsville Havoc, a professional hockey team where I get to combine high-energy live sports coverage with digital strategy and fan-first media. Whether I’m producing behind-the-scenes content, optimizing Reels and TikToks, or building momentum for game day, I thrive at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and impact.
At the heart of it all is my passion for bringing fans closer to the teams they love—and making every scroll, click, or post feel like part of the story.
